High wind advisory issued for High Desert
BARSTOW • A high wind advisory for the High Desert has been issued by the National Weather Service.
In Barstow, the wind advisory takes effect on Wednesday from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m.
Dust blowing could limit visibility Wednesday afternoon and continue into the evening. West-southwest winds of 17 to 22 mph are expected to increase 28 to 33 mph Wednesday afternoon, with gusts as high as 55 mph.
Windy conditions are expected to continue in Barstow into Wednesday night, with west-southwest winds of 26 to 31 mph decreasing to 20 to 25 mph after midnight, with gusts as high as 48 mph.
The advisory is in effect in Victorville from Wednesday at noon until Thursday at 8 a.m.
Victorville will be breezy Wednesday afternoon and evening with areas of blowing dust, with southwest winds at 15 to 25 miles per hour and gusts as high as 40 mph. By Thursday morning winds should die down to around 10 mph.
On Wednesday after 11 a.m., areas of blowing dust may limit visibility in Lucerne Valley.
Wednesday night winds in Lucerne Valley will peak with gusts as high as 40 mph, according to the NWS.
Thursday winds are expected to die down with gusts at 35 mph.
