Couple plead not guilty to home invasion robbery charges
BARSTOW • A Barstow man and woman pleaded not guilty Wednesday to charges for a home invasion last month, including robbery, vehicle theft and assault.
Ryan Blas, 28, and Amber Day, 18, were suspects in an Aug. 14 home invasion robbery of a Barstow man where the pair allegedly held the man up at gun point. Police believe they stole the victim’s wallet and car keys and fled the area in his ’97 Nissan 200SX.
The victim reported the crime later in the afternoon, delaying because he feared the suspects, he said. The two were arrested last week when they were spotted inside Chase bank on East Main Street. They were arrested without incident. They were found with evidence linking them to the crime.
Day faces only the robbery and vehicle theft charges. Prior to this she had a clean record in San Bernardino County.
Blas, however, faces additional charges of assault with a firearm and being a felon in possession of a firearm. He was previously convicted for vehicle theft and has a slew of theft and drug convictions in San Bernardino County.
Both are due back in court Sept. 21 for a pre-preliminary hearing.
