Friday Night Dinner
The American Legion Post 751, 30916 Newberry Road, will be serving fried chicken or meatloaf, mashed potatoes with gravy, vegetable, Coleslaw and a roll from 5 to until gone on Friday. Donation is $7.

Events at Barstow Senior Center
The Barstow Senior Center, 555 Melissa Ave., will be offering the following programs on Friday: The Barstow Senior Center is accepting your old unused cell phones. Drop Boxes located at, the Center, Senior Thrift Shop, Rite Aid Pharmacy, Rosita’s, Humane Society, and Superior Supplements & Source. The Mojave Valley Carvers get together from 8 to 11 a.m. Lunch from 11:30 to 12:30 p.m. Chef salad, tomato soup or clam chowder, roll, pineapple chunks. The general membership meeting will be at 12:35 p.m. Guest speaker will be J & J Medical Supply, they will be talking about arthritis relief. Don’t forget to check out the Barstow Senior Thrift Store, 929 E Williams and the Furniture Specialty Store, 907 E Williams. Open 7 days a week. Senior discount day are Wednesdays, Seniors receive 50 percent off (except furniture). Also if you would like to make a donation, call and they will pick up 760-256-0755.


Solar Cooking
The Desert Discovery Center, 831 Barstow Road, is offering a solar cooking workshop from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. This two hour class will show you how to construct your own inexpensive solar cooker and delicious recipes. Fee is $6 per person. For information, call 760-220-4351.

Wilderness hike
Come join other hikers on Saturday for a moderate 11 to 12 mile hike from Hanna Flats to Grays Peak and back in the San Bernardino Mountains on the northwest side of Big Bear Lake near Fawnskin. This is a perfect hike with outstanding views of Big Bear Lake and the San Gorgonio Wilderness Area. Bring 2-3 quarts of water, sturdy boots and lunch/snacks. Breakfast at Hinkley Senior Citizens Club
The Hinkley Senior Citizens Club will have their Saturday “Prepared to Your Order” breakfast from 8 to 10 a.m. at the Hinkley Senior Citizens Center, 35997 Mt. View Road. For $4.50 per breakfast, you may have pancakes or French toast, bacon or sausages, eggs, biscuits and gravy, orange juice, and milk. Coffee is available. Open to the public. Come, eat, visit, and enjoy yourself and support the Hinkley Senior programs. For information call 760-253-4677.

Harvey House Market Day
The Barstow Chamber of Commerce, 681 N.  First  Ave. is having a Harvey House Market Day on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Craft vendor spaces are available. A 10x10 space is $20 for Chamber members and $25 for non-members. A limited number of spaces have power for an extra $10. Vendors must provide their own table, chairs, and pop-up tents (if needed). All space vendor space will be outdoors. Vendor forms are available on the Chambers website,, and in person at the Chamber offices.

Newberry Springs Senior Center, 33383 Newberry Road, Newberry Springs, will hold bingo the first and second Saturday of each month. Doors open at 5 p.m. with play starting at 6 p.m. Hot dogs will be served from 5 to 6 p.m. The more in attendance, the bigger the jackpots.

Art club
Main St Mural will be hosting a Saturday art club at the Desert Discovery Center, 831 Barstow Road, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Donation of $1 per child and $ per adult suggested. Paint is supplied. For information, go to

Barstow Mall craft fair and mini swap meet
Barstow Mall is holding a craft fair and swap meet every Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Space is free for non-profit organizations and all others are $5 for one spot or $10 for two spots. Saturday Night Cruisers
Bring your car and join the Saturday Night Cruisers every Saturday at 7 p.m. at Foster Freeze, 1580 W. Main St. For information, call 760-964-3777.

Karaoke at Eagles Lodge
The Eagles Lodge, 513 E. Main St., features Karaoke every Saturday at 8 p.m. All are welcome.
