Events at Barstow Senior Center
The Barstow Senior Center, 555 Melissa Ave., will be offering the following programs on Friday: The Mojave Valley Carvers get together from 8 to 11 a.m. Lunch is served from 11:30 to 12:30 p.m. Meatloaf, mashed potatoes, corn, roll and fresh fruit salad. Drop in and check out the other activities that are going on during the day like puzzles and card games and the library has many books to choose from. The Center will be opened from 9 to 3 today. ‘Atomic Jazz II’
Barstow Jr. High School Jazzhawks will present Atomic Jazz II with guest artists Mic Gillette and Tom Politzer at 7 p.m., (doors open at 6:15 p.m. for ticket holders) on Friday at Barstow Junior High School, 1000 Armory Road. The Mojave Desert Democratic Club will meet Saturday at Quigley’s Restaurant, with breakfast will begin at 8:30 a.m. and the meeting will begin at 9 a.m. Highlights of the meeting will be: Importance of June election. Analysis of Governor Brown’s tax proposal. Sludge dump debacle. Status of Barstow beautification project. Evaluation of propositions on June ballot. Barstow city council moves to borrow millions of dollars to complete street repair projects. Impact of “open” primary process on congressional primary election. Main St Mural tour
Main St Murals will hold its monthly tour and historical slide show on Saturday starting at 10 a.m. at Barstow Flower & Bridal, corner of Main St. and Seventh. Take a walk back in time with historical murals and archive slide show of 120 years along Route 66. The tour is free but donations appreciated. Tour is led on the last Saturday of each month, group bookings and school tours also available. Barstow Mall is holding a craft fair and swap meet every Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Space is free for non-profit organizations and all others are $5 for one spot or $10 for two spots.
