Karaoke at the VFW

Mojave Valley Carvers
The Mojave Valley Carvers meet every Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday at 8 to 11 a.m. If you have an interest in carving come to the Senior Citizens Center, 555 Melissa Ave. During the carving sessions one of the carvers will introduce you and show you around.

‘Three Churches of St. Joseph’s’
A new book, “Three Churches of St. Joseph’s” will be sold as a fundraiser for St. Joseph’s Catholic Church on Saturday and Sunday after all the Masses. The books author, Phyllis Kolbly, will be on hand to sign copies and talk about the book and the two volumes that will follow.
Barstow’s Clothing Exchange
The monthly clothing exchange will be held on Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon at Greater Hope Foundation, 231 E. Main St. Anyone in need of children’s clothing is welcome. This is open to anyone in the community and great way to get free clothes and other items for children. Please bring any donated clothing (sizes for newborns to 16/18), food, toys, cribs, highchairs, bouncers or other items to the exchange. All clothing needs to be washed and free of holes or stains. Main St mural tour
The first monthly mural tour of the year will be offered on Saturday, Jan. 28. Meet at 10 a.m. inside Barstow Flower & Bridal, corner of 7th and Main St. Enjoy a walk back in time with Steve Smith and his nostalgic slide show, “100 years of Barstow Route 66” followed by a walking tour to view the growing gallery of murals along with the Main St Murals team. Democratic Club meeting
The Mojave Desert Democratic Club will meet Saturday, at Quigley’s Restaurant located near the Merchant’s Mall in Lenwood. Breakfast will begin at 8:30 a.m., the meeting will begin at 9 a.m. Highlights of the meeting will be: Newly elected officers of the Barstow Democratic Club outline their vision of the year ahead. Feasibility of proposed Canada-US oil pipeline. Future of California “bullet train” project. Governor’s tax increase plan. Status of US economic recovery. New approaches to long term unemployment. Little League Sign-ups
West Barstow Little League will be holding sign-ups on the following Saturdays: Jan. 28 at Fogelsong Park from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Tryouts will be held on Jan. 28. The cost is $65 for ages 12-and-under, and $75 for ages 13-and-over. A birth certificate and proof of residency required. Barstow Mall is holding a craft fair and swap meet every Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Space is free for non-profit organizations and all others are $5 for one spot or $10 for two spots.
