CHP makes four DUI arrests over holiday weekend

STAFF WRITER

BARSTOW • Barstow area California Highway Patrol officers arrested four people for driving under the influence and responded to 10 traffic collisions during the Thanksgiving weekend, according to Barstow CHP spokesman Don Spiker.

Although Spiker said 10 collisions is “pretty high,” he was happy to report there were not any fatalities as a result of traffic collision during the “maximum enforcement period,” a holiday traffic operation that began Thursday morning and ended Sunday at 11:59 p.m.

A pedestrian was killed on Interstate 15 early Monday morning, after the period ended.

Spiker said there were not any major road shutdowns due to any of the 10 traffic collisions.
