Tractor-trailer collision forces lane closure on I-15
Traffic was affected Tuesday morning on northbound Interstate 15 after a tractor-trailer lost control and struck the center divider.
According to California Highway Patrol spokesman Don Spiker, a semitrailer hauling deli meats lost control at about 5 a.m. and came to rest on the center divider 15 miles south of Baker in unincorporated San Bernardino County.
Spiker said the truck struck and damaged about 200 feet of guard rail. He said the truck’s auxiliary fuel tank ruptured, causing about 10 gallons of diesel fuel to spill into the desert near the center divider. As a result, officials closed the No. 1 lane of the interstate until 10:29 a.m.
The San Bernardino County Fire Department Hazardous Materials Team cleaned up the fuel spill.
Spiker said there were no other vehicles involved, and the driver, a 53-year-old Victorville man, was unharmed.
