Monday

Memorial Day service
Bill Collins Post 2143 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars will have a Memorial Day service at Mountain View Memorial Park at 11 a.m., on Monday. Guest speakers will be Barstow Mayor Joe Gomez, Fort Irwin Commander Brigadier General Terry Ferrell, Marine Corps Logistics Base Commander Colonel Daniel Ermer, Marine Color Guard and Fort Irwin Rifle team. Park rededication
The Barstow Heights CSD Board of Directors is holding a rededication at one of two local parks, Panamint Park.  The District is renaming it Venner Park, in honor of William (Bill) J. Venner who spent countless hours overseeing it and making sure it was always in good, safe condition for the public. The ceremony will take place Monday, May 28 at 10 a.m. at the Park located at K and Panamint in Barstow Heights. There will be a barbecue afterwards. The public is invited.

Al-Anon meeting
Al-Anon meetings are held on Mondays from 7 to 8:15 p.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 512 E. Williams St. Baby-sitting available. For information, call 760-261-3806.

Toastmasters

Preceptor Gamma Delta

Tuesday

Dinner at American Legion
American Legion Auxiliary #324 of Barstow, will be serving dinner from 5 p.m. until gone on Tuesday, at 2181 Armory Road. Dinner will be meatball stew, salad, and dessert for a donation of $5. Bingo
The Barstow Senior Center, 555 Melissa Ave., holds it weekly bingo game on Tuesdays at 6 p.m. and Wednesdays at 1:30 p.m. Buy in is $15. Take advantage of our delicious menu at the Bingo Grill. Bingo is open to the public but you must be at least 18 years to play. For information, call 760-256-5023.

The Barstow Senior Center, 555 Melissa Ave., will be offering the following programs on Tuesday: The Mojave Valley Carvers meets from 8 to 11 a.m. The Crafter Group meets from 9 to 11 a.m. Lunch is served from 11:30 to 12:30 p.m. Sweet and Sour pork, rice, broccoli, carrot salad and cake. Wii Bowlers get together from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Don’t forget to check out the Barstow Senior Thrift Store, 929 E. Williams and our furniture specialty store, 907 E. Williams. Open 7 days a week. Compulsive Overeaters Anonymous/HOW

Wednesday

Mojave River Valley Museum general meeting
The Mojave River Valley Museum, 270 E. Virginia Way, will be holding a general meeting at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 30. Guest speaker is Tonya Littlewolf of the Wolf Mountain Sanctuary in Lucerne Valley. Everyone is welcome, refreshments will be served, and it is always free.

Ham Radio classes
The Barstow Senior Center, 555 Melissa Ave., is offering a free Ham Radio License class and exam on Wednesdays May 23 and 30 from 6 to 8 p.m. Get your FCC Technician License, see equipment demonstration, learn basic electronics, emergency communications and FCC rules and regulations. Classes are offered to all ages and are. You can purchase a book (optional) for $15 and the exam has a $4 fee. For information, call Mary at 760-256-5023.

Cancer Awareness Group
The American Cancer Society will sponsor a cancer awareness group every Wednesday at the Barstow Senior Center from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Benefit from sharing, advice, encouragement, and inspiration from others. Lunch available after meeting for a donation of $3. For information, call 760-256-5942.

‘Ups & Downs’ support group

Tai Chi classes
The Newberry Springs Senior Center, 33383 Newberry Road, is hosting Tai Chi classes on Wednesday at 6 p.m. Chinese exercise improves your balance, flexibility and strength. A donation of $5 per class is suggested. For information, call Rick at 760-257-3144.

Thursday

‘Breathmobile’
Arrowhead Regional Medical Center will be bring its Breathmobile to New Beginnings Headstart, 1841 E. Main St., from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. This is a free mobile allergy and asthma specialty clinic for children and youth, ages newborn to 18 years. For information, call 760-255-1346.

Best Opportunities will hold a handmade craft sale every Thursday at the Barstow Mall, 1800 E. Main St., from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Proceeds benefit Best Opportunities.

Al-Anon
