Court date for three charged in strong arm robbery
BARSTOW • Two men and a woman are due in court Thursday in connection with a necklace-snatching robbery at the Tanger Outlet Mall.
The theft was reported at 2:26 p.m. on Tuesday, according to a Barstow Police Department news release.
A woman claimed a black adult male “assaulted her, ripped her gold necklace off of her neck and fled the scene in a waiting silver-colored Mercedes-Benz.”
She had injuries to her neck consistent with her story, authorities said.
A Mercedes-Benz, matching the description given by the victim, was located by investigating police traveling in the area of West Main Street and Avenue G.
Two occupants of the vehicle, Joseph Narcisse and Brianna Dupree, were positively identified as suspects by the victim and a witness, according to the news release.
Narcisse, 19, and Dupree, 18, were charged Thursday with robbery, court records show. They are both Barstow residents.
Further investigation revealed that the necklace was passed from Narcisse to a third suspect, Kenny Chase, after it was stolen, police said.
Chase, 20, was charged Thursday with receiving stolen property. He is from San Bernardino.
Each suspect pleaded not guilty. The necklace has not been located.
Narcisse and Dupree are currently in custody in lieu of $100,000 bail, booking records show. Chase is in custody with bail set at $300,000, according to booking records.
Police said Chase was in violation of his parole. Court records show he was sentenced to 16 months in prison in April 2012 for attempted robbery.
