County murder victims to be honored
DA to unveil online photo memorial Wednesday
The county District Attorney’s office will unveil an online photo memorial of local murder victims Wednesday in coordination with a national day of remembrance.
Sept. 25 is “National Day of Remembrance for Murder Victims.” It was established by the U.S. Congress in 2007.
The designation is intended not only to honor victims from the county, but to recognize the impact on surviving family members and the organizations that provide support, advocacy and council to them, according to a San Bernardino County District Attorney’s office news release.
“Having this memorial will provide family members and friends of murder victims a place online they can visit to reflect on their loved one and their loss,” District Attorney Michael Ramos said in a prepared statement.
The public may also use the Twitter hashtag #NDoR on Wednesday to connect to the District Attorney’s office, according to the news release.
“(The day) is also a chance for us as a community to recognize that their loss is our loss, and their pain is our pain,” Ramos said.
He is scheduled to attend an event hosted by Parents of Murdered Children in Bloomington on Saturday.
