Calico Ghost Haunt offers family thrills and chills
CALICO • From scare mazes and headless horsemen, to live music, costumes and pumpkin carving contests, this year’s Calico Ghost Haunt will have something for everyone.
The Ghost Haunt is back for another year at Calico Ghost Town and is set for fun and scares for the entire family, said event coordinator Noele Wayne.
“This is a family-friendly event, we have a lot of stuff that caters to the younger, teenage and older crowd,” Wayne said. “We have two haunted mazes, a scare version for the older crowd and a milder version for the feint at heart. I think the Calico Ghost Haunt is unique because there is also a historical experience of Calico Ghost Town.”
This year’s event theme is Sleepy Hollow and according to Wayne, there will be plenty of opportunities for sightings of headless horsemen. Sleepy Hollow character Ichabod Crane will tell old-tales to children at the Calico school house.
The haunting fun begins on Friday and goes through Sunday. It will also run from Oct. 25 through Oct. 27, Wayne said.
Comedian and magician Andy Gross will perform his act on the opening weekend and the Kent Family Magic Circus will perform next weekend, Wayne said. Children-friendly act Twinkle Time will provide musical entertainment.
Other entertainment scheduled is the Gypsy Time Travelers, a dead wedding, Saturday night ghost walks, trick or treating and costume contests for all ages and pets.
Event hours are 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. and admission is $15 for adults and $10 for ages 6 through 15. Children ages 5 and under are free. According to the event flier, San Bernardino County residents receive a discount of regular admission with valid identification. For more information visit www.CalicoTown.com.
