BPD makes three arrests on separate burglary counts
BARSTOW • Three Barstow residents are in custody on different counts of burglaries, including a large quantity of stolen copper, authorities said.
According to a Barstow Police Department news release, officers were dispatched to B.E.S.T. Opportunities regarding stolen bags of recyclables from a storage shed at approximately 10:06 a.m. Wednesday.
Officers were able to pinpoint a detailed description of the suspect and located the suspect’s vehicle at the Topper Motel, located at 800 West Main Street, at approximately 1:52 p.m., according to the release.
George Omerly, 43, matched the description and officers searched his room and located the multiple bags that were reported stolen, large quantity of copper, several waters meters and methamphetamine, the release states.
The copper and water meters were previously reported stolen from Golden State Water Company. Representatives were contacted and identified the property as theirs, according to the release.
Officers recognized a person matching a suspect description of an on-going stolen motorcycle investigation from earlier this week. The motorcycle, that was reported stolen from Barstow Automotive and Towing, was recovered and returned, the release states.
Erik Keilty, 26, was arrested and booked at the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department Barstow Jail for possession of the stolen motorcycle, according to the release.
Omerly was also arrested and booked at Barstow Jail on burglary and possession of controlled substance counts.
Dana Brown, 48, was arrested on an outstanding possession of stolen property warrant, also at Barstow Jail, the release states.
