Barstow falls to 'rabbits

BARSTOW • The Lady Jackrabbits held a slight edge throughout the game, as Victor Valley beat Barstow, 58-39, in Desert Sky League girls basketball action Thursday night.

The Lady Aztecs had the same problem they had in their previous game against Burroughs: a third-quarter lapse.

“We were right there, we were in it, doing the right things,” said Barstow head coach Jerry Enriquez. “We did pretty well on defense; we did a good job on Jordyn Shane, who killed us last time. Like our last game, we lost it in the third.”

The Lady Aztecs trailed by just nine at halftime, behind 27-18.

Maxine Cooks and Tiare Alefaio were Barstow’s high scorers with eight points each. Vasa Alefaio, playing her first game since recovering from an injury, scored seven points, with six each for Jasmine Green and Marion Mims.

The Lady Aztecs will host Adelanto on Tuesday, and will be at Silverado next Thursday.
