Healthcare Reform Info Session coming to Barstow
The Barstow Area Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau plans to conduct a “Healthcare Reform Info Session” Saturday, with the aim of providing the public with information regarding the Covered California health insurance plan.
The seminar is planned for 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, located at 512 E. Williams Street. The Healthcare Reform Info Session is open to the public, with reservations required.
The event’s goal is “providing enrollment information and help” for those who are taking advantage of the Covered California plan, according to the chamber.
The session will include information about “how to get coverage, who qualifies for government assistance, essential benefits, changes in medical and more,” according to the event flier.
Covered California is the agency currently operating the state’s health plan. The payment deadline for 2014 coverage has been extended from Jan. 1 to Jan 15. The deadline extension came as a result of a big increase in enrollment for the plan, which the agency said had reached more than 400,000 as 2013 came to a close.
