Barstow seeks input for neighborhood improvements
BARSTOW • The City of Barstow is hosting a meeting Thursday to seek input from residents and property owners of the West Section 7 neighborhood.
The meeting is scheduled to discuss the planned improvements to the streets, curbs and gutters of the neighborhood, according to Assistant City Manager Oliver Chi.
“The project isn’t scheduled to be under construction until the end of the 2014 calendar year, start of 2015,” Chi said. “But before we start doing any of the design work, we just wanted to have a meeting with the residents to see if there were any specific design-related issues or long-standing problems that need to be addressed that we couldn’t figure out or we weren’t aware of. We just wanted this chance to meet with everyone and get some feedback before we begin our design process.”
West Section 7 is bordered by Interstate 15 to the north, Rimrock Road to the south, Barstow Road to the east and Agarita Avenue to the west.
According to Chi, the city will primarily construct full-width city streets and install curb, gutter and sewer laterals to each of the properties in the Section 7 neighborhood.
Chi said the meeting will be held in the Barstow City Council Chambers, located on 220 East Mountain View Street, at 6 p.m.
Neighborhood residents and the general public are encouraged to attend. For more information call Heidy Riley at 760-255-5151.
