Donation car wash for Barstow man in coma
BARSTOW • A donation car wash is scheduled for Saturday for the family of Joseph Anderson in the Vons parking lot, located at 1270 East Main Street.
The 31-year-old Barstow resident has been in a coma since Aug. 7, after he was ejected in a single-vehicle collision on southbound Interstate 15 just north of Hodge Road.
The car wash will run from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., with the money going toward Anderson’s medical bills, according to his mother, Susan Anderson.
Susan Anderson said the whole family is waiting and hoping Joseph Anderson wakes up to start a new life.
“There has not been a whole lot of improvement,” Susan Anderson said about her son’s condition. “He’s made little movements here and there but he is still in a coma. The doctors think it’s just his reactions, but we think he is reacting to us. We miss him. We’re all trying to be cheerful and say good things to encourage him to let him know we’re here.”
Susan Anderson said his wife Jillian, and father Ashley will all be at the car wash before going to Loma Linda University Medical Center to visit Joseph Anderson. Susan Anderson said the car wash was put together by a family friend who is also the baby-sitter of two of Anderson’s four children.
