Police investigation leads to Barstow man's arrest
Crime Impact Team finds meth, marijuana, paraphernalia and guns
BARSTOW• An ongoing investigation by the Barstow Police Department’s Crime Impact Team led to the arrest of a Barstow man with two outstanding warrants.
Maurice Leverette, 26, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance while armed with a firearm after police served a narcotic search warrant at his residence Saturday on the 500 block of West Fredericks Street.
During the search, the Crime Impact Team found methamphetamine, marijuana and other packaging and paraphernalia indicating drug sales were occurring at his residence, according to a police news release.
The search also turned up two loaded semi-automatic handguns belonging to Leverette — positively identified after a records check, according to police.
Leverette, his pregnant girlfriend and five small children were at the residence, police said.
Leverette was arrested and booked at the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Barstow Jail for the listed charge and for two outstanding vehicle-related warrants in San Bernardino County, arrest records showed.
He is currently out of custody after being released on bail Sunday, according to booking records.
The investigation is continuing and additional charges of possession of illegal drugs for sales and child endangerment will be sought, police said.
