Events at Barstow Senior Center
The Barstow Senior Center, 555 Melissa Ave., will be offering the following programs on Friday: The Mojave Valley Carvers get together from 8 to 11 a.m. Lunch is served from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Barbecue pulled pork sandwich, baby baked potatoes, corn and fresh fruit salad.
Cook your own steak sponsored by the American Legion Riders, Chapter #324. Includes salad, baked potato, vegetable, roll, and dessert. Donation cost is $12 a plate. The Barstow Church of God in Christ, 1375 Bishop Nathaniel Jones, Jr. Way (formerly Sage Dr.), will be serving international cuisine on Saturday starting at 11 a.m. All-you-can-eat for a donation of $10.
Hunter Safety Course
A hunter safety course will be held Saturday and Sunday at 25647 W. Main St., from noon to 5 p.m. Both days are required. It is mandatory to have a hunter safety certificate to hunt in California. The certificate is free, good in any state, and never expires. Students under 17 require parent/guardian signature. Bring SSN, water, and highlighter. For information call 760-255-3452. Democratic Club meeting
The Mojave Desert Democratic Club will meet Saturday at Quigley’s Restaurant located near the Merchant’s Mall in Lenwood. Breakfast will begin at 8:30 a.m. and the meeting will begin at 9 a.m.. Highlights of the meeting will be: Analysis of Romney-Ryan budget plans and adverse impacts on seniors and middle class. Current status of employment, housing and general economic conditions. Welcome to Democratic election headquarters at 215 E. Main St. Upcoming city council election contest. Spreading municipal bankruptcies in California. Kids art club
Join the Desert Discovery Center art club on Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and learn different art forms with the fun and creative team. Donation of $1 per child $5 per adult. Class is held every Saturday.
Barstow’s Clothing Exchange
On Saturday, the monthly clothing exchange will be held from 9 a.m. to noon, located at the Greater Hope Foundation, 231 E. Main St. Please enter through the alley. Anyone in need of clothing is welcome. This is a way to get clothing for free. All ages clothing exchange — clothing from newborns to adults. Please drop your donations off at this exchange. Clothing should be freshly washed and free of smoke, animal hair, or dust and free of holes, or stains. Please no re-sellers. Barstow Mall craft fair and mini swap meet
Barstow Mall is holding a craft fair and swap meet every Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Space is free for non-profit organizations and all others are $5 for one spot or $10 for two spots. Freewill Church will be holding a community outreach service at Dana Park, 850 Barstow Road, on Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. There will be inspirational speakers, praise dance, children performance, children activities, and health information and resources. Free drinks and hot dogs.
Harvest America Crusade
Calvary Chapel Barstow, invites the public for a live simulcast event from Anaheim Stadium, “Harvest America” on Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. Speaker is gifted evangelist Greg Laurie. Breakfast at the American Legion
