Comedy show
Barstow’s Relay for Life will present “The Boob Tour” a stand up comedy show to benefit in the fight against cancer. The show will be held at Rosita’s Restaurant, 540 W. Main St. Doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15 in advance, $20 at the door or $160 in advance for a table. Tickets can be purchased at Rosita’s, Barstow Glass and Mirror, 1111 W. Main St. or by calling 760-253-3789 or 760-596-8866 and leave a message. Must be a least 21 years old to attend show.

Events at Barstow Senior Center
The Barstow Senior Center, 555 Melissa Ave., will be offering the following programs on Friday: The Mojave Valley Carvers get together from 8 to 11 a.m. Scan will conduct a dehydration seminar from 10 to 11:30  a.m. They will also be conducting free raffles during the seminar. Come learn how to stay hydrated. Lunch is served from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Baked fish, rice pilaf, green beans, coke slaw and bread pudding. General membership meeting will be held at 12:35 p.m. The Barstow Senior Thrift Store located, 929 E. Williams, is an amazing resource for getting great, high-quality, unique and inexpensive clothes and other household items, and the Furniture Specialty Store, 907 E. Williams, has great bargains also. ‘The Hope Hut’ blowout sale
New Hope Village is pleased to announce managing the “The Hope Hut” building, 404 E. Mt. View, at First United Methodist Church (behind the water towers at Mt. View and Barstow Road). A blowout sale will be held  on Aug. 10, from 8 a.m. to noon. There are file cabinets, couches, love seats, recliners, desks at $25 each. Stuff a bag of clothing for $5 for two bags. VHS and cassette tapes 4/$1, paperbacks 10/$1, hardbacks 4/$1, albums $ each, knickknacks 4/$1, Christmas decorations 4/$1, shoes at .50 each, household items $1 each, lamps and misc. chairs $5 each. All sales benefit New Hope Village/ New Hope, Too! and First United Methodist Church Ladies Auxiliary.

St. Paul’s Academy enrollment
St. Paul’s Academy (7th through 9th grade) will be accepting enrollments on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to noon, at 516 E. Williams St., or by appointment. Please call 760-256-4400 for an appointment or information. Scholarships are available. Space is limited.


IN’ Tents: A Conservation Comedy in the Great Outdoors
As part of a national parks tour, Rangeelay Theatre ensemble, in partnership with the Desert Discovery Center on Barstow Road, present IN’Tents at 4 p.m. on Saturday. The performance is free and will be followed by a theatre workshop for children aimed to activate the imagination through creative play. IN‘Tents is a fun and educational family show. Through hilarious misadventures, Park Ranger Patricia Pinky and first time camper Chipotle learn how to camp, preserve and enjoy their natural spaces. The show is full of Chaplin-esque physical comedy!

Breakfast at Hinkley Senior Citizens Club
The Hinkley Senior Citizens Club is having its “Prepared to Your Order” Saturday breakfast on Saturday from 8 to 10 a.m. at 35997 Mt. View Road. For $4.50 per breakfast, you may have pancakes or French toast, bacon or sausages, eggs, biscuits and gravy, orange juice, and milk. Coffee is available. Open to the Public. Golf Scramble
Hi Desert Charities will be holding its annual golf scramble on Saturday at Tees n Trees golf course at the Marine Corps Logistics Base. Check-in is at 6 a.m. and tee-off at 7 a.m. Five person scramble (make your own team). Entry fee is $65 which includes green fees, continental breakfast, and barbecue. Carts not included in fee. Route 66 Pageant
The 11th Annual Miss Route 66 Pageant will be held on Saturday at the International Route 66 Festival being held at the San Bernardino County Fairgrounds in Victorville. This is a fun, minimal duties, casual wear only, National Pageant for baby’s to grandma’s, beginners to pageant regulars. Everyone from everywhere is eligible to enter as long as they have traveled on Route 66. Large full round custom Route 66 crowns, embroidered sashes, trophies and custom Route 66 satin jackets will be awarded to all 14 Route 66 Queens. All other contestants are guaranteed to win Princess and receive a custom Route 66 tiara and sash. This year we will be crowning our very first International Ms. Route 66, with the competitors coming from foreign countries to attend the Festival. The pageant also offers awards for mini-optionals, photogenic and costumes; for those wishing to participate; with each entrant receiving special pins. Entry forms are available at the Route 66 Museums in Barstow and Victorville, and the Barstow Area Chamber of Commerce. For recorded information, call 760-257-3834. Solar Cooking
The Desert Discovery Center, 831 Barstow Road, is offering a solar cooking workshop from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. This two hour class will show you how to construct your own inexpensive solar cooker and delicious recipes. Fee is $6 per person. For information, call 760-220-4351.

Newberry Springs Senior Center, 33383 Newberry Road, Newberry Springs, will hold bingo the first and second Saturday of each month. Doors open at 5 p.m. with play starting at 6 p.m. Hot dogs will be served from 5 to 6 p.m. The more in attendance, the bigger the jackpots.

Barstow Mall craft fair and mini swap meet
Barstow Mall is holding a craft fair and swap meet every Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Space is free for non-profit organizations and all others are $5 for one spot or $10 for two spots.
