BARSTOW — Two Teen Miss Barstow winners will be competing in this weekend's 2017 Miss California USA and Miss California Teen USA pageants in Long Beach.

Alyssa Zamora and Janiece Love will join 2012 Miss Barstow Charli Burnett in the contest.

Zamora is also the reigning 2016 Northern Sierra Teen USA. She was crowned Teen Miss Barstow in 2015. Love was Teen Miss Barstow in 2014.

"I have been training not only in the gym, but my hair and makeup as well. And walk in high heels. I have to prepare for that," Zamora said Tuesday.

Zamora said the Northern Sierra Teen USA was a big boost for her because she gets sponsorship help for the Miss California USA pageant.

Zamora is a 15-year-old sophomore at Barstow High School. She is an honor roll student, varsity cheerleader, varsity softball player, ASB Commissioner of Activities and plays in the Barstow High School Marching Band. She aspires to continue her education so that she can become a pediatrician. Her platform has been focused on Suicide Awareness.

Zamora is the daughter of Amanda and Christopher Zamora and granddaughter of Barbara Rose and Frank Jaramillo and Dennis and Susie Zamora. Her sponsors are Leonard Purdy of Barstow Tire & Brake, Abel and Lorena Contreras of A 2 Z Lock and Security, Max Atella of Los Domingos, Trisha Guardado of The Make-up Box, D3 Productions and Matthew Gregg of Superior Supplement Source, Barstow.
