BARSTOW — Barstow Community College Board of Trustees President Phil Harris and outgoing Trustee Marcia Pierce on Wednesday unveiled an etched glass plaque listing major contributors during a ceremony held inside the lobby of the college's Performing Arts Center.
The plaque is lit by LED lights and is permanently mounted on a wall in the lobby. It lists the people and businesses who joined the President’s Circle in 2015 with an initial contribution of $1,500.
Dr. Deborah DiThomas, superintendent/president of the Barstow Community College District, thanked all of the contributors to the Performing Arts Center.
“The entire community is grateful for your donations supporting the arts and our community college,” DiThomas said.
In addition to the main plaque in the lobby, The Sarkisian Green Room was also unveiled in honor of the late Dr. James Sarkis Sarkisian. Numerous seats in the main theater of the PAC also have been named by people and businesses contributing to the PAC.
Dr. DiThomas also recognized Jeri Justus for her work as the executive director of the Barstow College Foundation with a certificate and medallion. Justus is retiring from her position with the foundation, but said that she will always be a “friend of the foundation” in years to come.
Wednesday's program included music performed by Amara Seegrist, a student at BCC.
