BAKER — Authorities on Monday identified a Van Nuys man killed in a collision on Interstate 15 north of Baker over the weekend.
San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department officials said Ara Aladzhanzian, 45, was pronounced dead at the scene early Saturday morning.
California Highway Patrol officers responded to the collision between two “large trucks” a little before 1:30 a.m. According to the coroner’s report, Aladzhanzian was travelling in his 2007 International 4300 truck in the northbound No. 3 lane when for reasons unknown he struck the rear of a tractor trailer traveling at a “slower speed.”
Aladzhanzian was trapped in his truck and was pronounced dead by emergency personnel. Additional information was not immediately available.
The Barstow area CHP is investigating the collision.
