Route 66 Mother Road Museum
The Route 66 Mother Road Museum in Barstow’s old Harvey House Railroad Station needs need volunteers who are interested in Route 66 and local history. Those who don’t know much about Route 66 or being a museum docent will be trained. Volunteers will enjoy meeting and talking to visitors from all over the U.S. and from around the world. The Gentiva Hospice in Victorville is seeking volunteers from the Victor Valley and Barstow areas. Volunteers give their time in three ways: patient visit volunteers visit patients to provide companionship and support through conversation, leisure activities or by being a supportive presence, and they may also provide respite for caregivers so they can have some time away for themselves; administrative volunteers provide office support through clerical duties such as data entry, filing or phone calling; and vigil volunteers provide support to patients and their families through the final hours of lives journey. 'The Fam Spot'
Family Assistance Program needs volunteers for The Fam Spot, its youth drop-in center. Tutors are wanted to help youth ages 12 to 21 with math, English and science homework, and resume creation. The Victor Valley Rescue Mission is seeking volunteers to help with emergency food pantries, community dinners, hot shower programs and clothing giveaways. Community Hospice of Victor Valley
Community Hospice of Victor Valley invites residents to become a "valued volunteer." As a hospice volunteer, you can spend time with patients, provide office assistance and represent the hospice in the community at many fun events. The hospice also provides music therapy, and those who love children can become a "Village Volunteer." The hospice also has a therapy rabbit, "Harvey Hopper, Hospice Hare."
