BARSTOW • The Needles to Barstow corridor management plan will be discussed in a series of public scoping meetings later this month.
The California Historic Route 66 Association will coordinate with the Bureau of Land Management to conduct the meetings "to solicit public comment regarding issues and concerns that should be analyzed in the preparation of a corridor management plan for historic Route 66 within the BLM California Desert District," according to a news release.
The projects aims to "help preserve the history of Route 66 through the desert and develop strategies for educating visitors from both nearby and afar about its significant cultural and landscape features."
A session is scheduled in Barstow at the Harvey House from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Feb. 25.
Another session will take place in Needles on Feb. 27 at the Needles High School cafeteria, also from 6-8 p.m.
Those unable to attend one of the meetings in person can participate in a web-based meeting on Feb. 27 at 1 p.m. For more information on the web-based session, CHR66A asks that interested individuals send an email to email@example.com with the subject line "CART 66 WEB MEETING."
