BARSTOW• An RV caught fire on northbound Interstate 15 near the L Street and Highway 58 offramp Friday at approximately 11 a.m.

The Barstow Fire Department was on scene to extinguish the blaze and no injuries were reported, according to California Highway Patrol spokesman Don Spiker.

The driver of the RV said he was on his way to the river in Laughlin when a tire blew out, according to Spiker.

After he pulled over to the I-15 shoulder, the driver discovered smoke coming from the front of the motor home and it became fully engulfed.

It was most likely a motor fire, Spiker said, but the exact cause is still unknown.

The right two lanes were blocked for 30 to 40 minutes and roadways were clear as of 12:30 p.m.
