FORT IRWIN • Actor Gary Sinise and the Lt. Dan Band will play a gig at Fort Irwin on Saturday night, according to a base news release.
Sinise is famous for his role as Lt. Dan in the film "Forrest Gump" and has played a number of concerts for military personnel since 2004 through his commitment to the USO, according to the band's website. This is his third time playing at Fort Irwin.
The 11-member group plays 30 to 40 shows a year, mostly for USO, charities or benefits. This concert is part of a USO Tour that covers military installations in California and Arizona, according to the news release.
The group plays pop, rock, blues, soul, country and tunes from the 1940's big band era.
The concert will be from 7 to 9:15 p.m. Access to the base is required.
The concert is free, with concessions available for purchase. No outside food, drinks or coolers, or pets are allowed. Lawn chairs and blankets are permitted.
