BARSTOW • Two men were sentenced Monday after the pair pleaded guilty to a robbery that left three stabbed in November 2011.
Eric Begay, 26, of Barstow was sentenced to 15 years in prison while his partner-in-crime Harry Carrillo Jr., 28, of Yermo was sentenced to 20 years in prison — both for the robbery of a Barstow homeowner's decorative fountain.
The two were originally charged with attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon and participating in a criminal street gang after police testified during a preliminary hearing the two stabbed the homeowner in an attempt to prove their gang, East Side Projects, was violent.
The homeowner sustained stab wounds to his ear, face and forearm, according to previous reports. After the attack began, family members came to his defense and both suspects were stabbed, seriously injuring Carrillo.
Both pleaded guilty to felony robbery in February. They could have faced life sentences for their original charges.
