BARSTOW • The old Hacienda Colima restaurant is set to re-open in a few weeks under new management and a new name, managers say.

The Hacienda Tequila will replace the former restaurant, which closed about three years ago, said Manager Jose Alcala.

The restaurant menu will feature many of the same items as before — seafood as well as traditional Mexican  staples — but this time with some of their own added flavor.

"Well, most of the restaurants serve the same Mexican food, but we're going to try to have our own style, our own presentation," Alcala said.

The restaurant's old-world Mexican building got a face lift, with fresh green paint and a brand new interior.

The inside draws inspiration from Hacienda style design, with broad, curvy furniture pieces and bold Mexican colors. Painters from Guadalajara were flown in the paint murals along the inner walls.

"Well we saw an opportunity because the restaurant was in inactive so we wanted to reopen it," Alcala said.

Alcala said they are only waiting to obtain permits from the city before they can hopefully open in three weeks.

The restaurant, at 29836 U.S. Highway 58, will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner and will be open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
