Events at Barstow Senior Center
The Barstow Senior Center, 555 Melissa Ave., will be offer the following programs: The library is open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for reading enjoyment. Donations accepted of any type of books. 8 a.m. — Interested in learning how to carve. Come check out the Mojave Valley Carvers. 11:30 a.m. — A tuna casserole lunch with broccoli, Caesar salad and fruit cocktail will be served. 7 p.m. — Dancing and music provided by Don Livingston. Donation is $5 and bring a dish to share.

Mojave Valley Carvers
The Mojave Valley Carvers meet every Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday at 8 to 11 a.m. If you have an interest in carving come to the Senior Citizens Center, 555 Melissa Ave. During the carving sessions one of the carvers will introduce you and show you around.
'Soul food taste-o-rama'
The Barstow Branch NAACP will be hosting its yearly "Soul food taste-o-rama" in celebration of Black History month, on Saturday from 3:30 to 6 p.m., at Brown Fellowship Hall, 1364 Riverside Dr. Open to the public.
New Hope Village and New Hope, Too! is having its 6th Annual Love Fest at Quigley's on Saturday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Lots of raffle gifts! Come and join us and share a delicious meal and fabulous fun with friends and family! Donation $20 per person.

Free concert and food
The Vineyard Christian Fellowship of Barstow, 29041 US Highway 58, will be hosting a free concert. The outdoor event will be on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m. In concert will be Refresh, Kevin Schereth, and the Vineyard Worship Team. The Barstow community is invited to come and enjoy an afternoon of music and food. Bring your lawn chairs, and a friend.

The Mojave National Preserve presents the sculpture and photography of Main St Murals Environmental Arts Youth Program in an exhibition entitled "Crazy Cactus". Join Jane and David Brockhurst and the Main St Murals youth team for the opening reception at the Kelso Depot Desert Light Gallery on Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m.
This unique exhibit showcases the collaborative sculpture of local youth with professional artists , the joyous design and broad brushstrokes depicted in both sculpture and photography celebrate the heritage of the Mojave Desert and the positive force of Environmental Art in Education. Funds raised through the Crazy Cactus project will be used to support the Main St Murals after school youth program which leads free environmental and arts education at the Desert Discovery Center.
Exhibit runs from February 18 through May 19.
Barstow Mall craft fair and mini swap meet
Barstow Mall is holding a craft fair and swap meet every Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Space is free for non-profit organizations and all others are $5 for one spot or $10 for two spots. Must have tables for merchandise or rentals available for $1. Raffles and entertainment.

The Newberry Springs Senior Center and Cafe will be serving a chicken fried steak dinner on Sunday. There are seventy tickets available for this event, and pre-sale tickets are on sale now and will continue until Saturday. Pre-sale cost is $7 for adults and $3.50 for the kids. At the door tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for the children. Everyone is welcome.
