BARSTOW • Officers arrested a man suspected of rape Saturday following a vehicle pursuit that started near Temecula and ended in Barstow.
Bryan Tangas, 23, is accused of forcibly raping a woman at his residence in French Valley early Saturday morning, according to a report from the Riverside County Sheriff's Department. The woman escaped his house and called 911 at around 5:18 a.m. Tangas was reportedly searching for the victim before he fled the scene when approached by deputies.
Tangas led deputies to the freeway, at which point California Highway Patrol officers took over, according to the report. He was arrested at 7:10 a.m. in Barstow after California Highway Patrol officers disabled his vehicle using spike strips.
Tangas is charged with false imprisonment, rape, evading a police officer and related charges.
