'Tips for Tots'
Skyline North Elementary and Dinapolis Firehouse will be sponsoring a "Tips for Tots" fundraiser for field trips, playground equipment, and other school needs. The event will be held at 1358 E. Main St., Friday from 5 to 9 p.m.
Karaoke at VFW

East Barstow Little League will be holding late registration and tryouts on Saturday, Feb. 11 at Lillian Park. Minors (9-10) from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; Majors (11-12) from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. For Juniors (13-14) tryouts and registration will be at the Sports Park from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Valentine's dinner at Eagles Lodge
The Eagles Lodge, 513 E. Main St., will be serving rosemary and lemon chicken with roasted red potatoes, rice, vegetables, and dessert on Friday from 5 p.m. until gone. Donation is $7 per person or $12 per couple. The chef will be Mara.
Valentine fundraiser for Elder Haven
Surprise your Valentine sweetheart with a balloon, flower and candy bouquet delivered by Millie Gorillie, Barstow's only pink gorilla. Reservations for delivery on Valentines day are now being taken by calling 760-256-5706. Cost is $25. Deadline to order is Friday. Proceeds benefit Barstow Elder Haven Adult Day Care Center.
Mojave Valley Carvers
The Mojave Valley Carvers meet every Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday at 8 to 11 a.m. If you have an interest in carving come to the Senior Citizens Center, 555 Melissa Ave. During the carving sessions one of the carvers will introduce you and show you around.
Calico Peak hike
Come join other hikers for a moderate/strenuous 14 mile hike to Calico Peak (4659 ft) via Odessa Canyon on Saturday at 8 a.m. This is a great hike through beautiful Odessa Canyon and then onto the Calico Peak at the top of the Calico Mtns., just north of Barstow. Job's Daughters Bethel No. 341 will be serving a Sweetheart Pancake Breakfast at the Masonic Lodge, 221 Ave. "J", on Saturday from 8 to 11 a.m. Breakfast will include hot fluffy pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, juice or milk and coffee. The Barstow Senior Center, 555 Melissa St., will present the Barstow College "Jazz Ambassadors" on Saturday from 7 to 10 p.m. That great American art form, Jazz will be performed by Tim Garvin's Jazz Ambassadors whose concentrate is on the 30s, 40s and 50s jazz music. The Hinkley Senior Citizens will be serving its Saturday "Prepared Your Way" Breakfast on Saturday from 8 to 10 a.m. at the Hinkley Senior Center, 35997 Mt. View Road. For $4.50 per breakfast, you may have pancakes or French Toast, bacon or sausages, eggs, biscuits and gravy, orange juice, and milk. Coffee is available. Open to the public.
