BARSTOW A woman accused of aiding in the fatal shooting of a 27-year-old Barstow woman has pleaded no contest to accessory charges and was sentenced at Barstow Superior Court.

Laticia Davis was shot multiple times on Aug. 2 on the 900 block of Carson Street and later died at Barstow Community Hospital.

Kathy Hunter, 54, was one of four people arrested after Davis' death and had been charged with accessory after the fact and conspiracy to commit a crime. According to police, detectives found evidence that Hunter was involved in planning the shooting. Hunter had had disagreements with the victim and her friends in the past and had threatened the victim about two months before the shooting.

Hunter pleaded no contest to accessory charges and asked to be sentenced immediately on Oct. 26. She was sentenced to 487 days in prison, with credit for 71 days of time served in jail. A charge of conspiracy to commit a crime was dismissed with her plea deal.

Deputy District Attorney Connie Lasky was unavailable for comment Tuesday, as was Hunter's conflict panel attorney, Susan Slater.

According to police, the shooting appears to have stemmed from a feud between neighbors that had been going on for weeks. Davis did not live in the duplex apartment on Carson Street, but was visiting a friend who lived there on the night she was killed.

Charles Ross, 38, Angelica Webb, 26, and La Kesha Nelson, 36, were also arrested after the shooting and are in custody. Ross and Webb have been charged with murder and Nelson has been charged as an accessory.

A pre-preliminary hearing for Ross, Webb, and Nelson is scheduled for Wednesday morning at Barstow Superior Court.
