V.V. pitcher nearly no-hits BHS baseball

VICTORVILLE • Senior Blake Hagey threw a one-hitter and came within one out of tossing a no-hitter against Barstow on Friday to lead Victor Valley baseball to a 7-0 win.
The one hit Barstow had against Hagey was infield single with two outs in the seventh inning. On the day, he struck out 10 and walked three.

"His confidence was there, he had been struggling with staying on the mound and battling through confidence issues," Victor Valley coach Garret Gentry said.

Also for the Jackrabbits (10-7, 6-2 DSL), Daniel Burgum went 3-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored, Ryan Dickinson finished the game 2-for 3 with two RBIs and a run scored and Roosevelt Bates went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored.

The win sets up a big showdown with Granite Hills on Wednesday at home.

BHS tennis falls to Victor Valley

VICTOR VALLEY 12, BARSTOW 6: At Victorville, with an adjusted lineup the Jackrabbits were still able to double up the Aztecs.

Of course it didn't hurt that Barstow forfeited all No. 2 and No. 3 singles matches.
The Jackrabbits' Matthew Potes normally plays doubles but picked up Victor Valley's lone contested singles win.

Miko Potes and Adrian Belcher, both play singles, won two of three sets and Xavier Valbuena and Maki Potes also won two of three.

Victor Valley (3-7 Desert Sky League) plays Granite Hills on Monday and Burroughs on Wednesday. They can take over third place in the DSL with a win over Burroughs.
