BARSTOW • Marissa Dado found the holes in the outfield on Friday.

Dado, Barstow's center fielder, hit a solo in-the-park home run as well as a two-RBI triple during Barstow's 10-0 mercy rule rout of Burroughs. The Aztecs completed a three-game sweep of the Burros with the victory. Dado came home on her triple after an error on an overthrow to third base by the Burros. Her triple sparked the Aztecs' offense in the third inning scoring the game's first runs.

Barstow coach Richard Johannsen said Dado has impressed him this season.

"I just let her hit," Johannsen said. "I was thinking about having her sacrifice. She has so much talent. I let her hit away instead of the sacrifice and she came through and came through again."

Dado wasn't the only Aztec hitting the deep ball on Friday. Miranda Peralta hit a three-run home run and Meagan Alvarez had a long triple. Dado and Peralta led the team with three RBIs a piece.

Barstow got solid hitting from throughout the line up. The Aztecs hit .500 as a team during the game with each player getting three at bats during their four innings of offense.
"We've been talking about swinging at good pitches," Johannsen said. "As long as we're swinging at the good pitches we hit well."

The Aztecs' offensive pressure forced Burroughs to go through three pitchers repeatedly in the third and fourth innings. The Burros' starter Bailey Walters threw the until the third inning when she was relieved by Cierra Carreno. Carreno didn't slow the Aztecs' offense, and Burroughs brought in Haley Farmer to close the game.

Barstow was also helped out by several errors and mistakes by the Burros. Burroughs committed four errors, had numerous passed balls that gave up bases and a run, an obstruction call on their catcher and an illegal pitch called against Carreno that brought a run home.

Burroughs head coach Adrienne Lathrop was ejected after arguing a call and using an expletive in the top of the fifth inning.

"We usually end better than we start, but today we were off," Burroughs assistant coach Mark Lathrop said. "We don't usually make those mistakes we made today. I think the bad calls from the umps and Barstow's play made the girls a little tight today especially after our head coach got thrown out."

The Aztecs played a solid game defensively holding the Burros scoreless and finishing with no errors in the game. Barstow's Hannah Ulibarri earned four strikeouts while allowing five hits and three walks.
