BARSTOW • A man was sentenced to 20 years in prison on Monday for the sexual abuse of two young boys.
Alejandro Gutierrez, 29, of Barstow, pleaded guilty to two charges of lewd and lascivious acts with a child under the age of 14 and one charge of continued sexual abuse with a child under the age of 14 last November, according to court documents. Both children were under 10-years-old, said supervising deputy district attorney Julie Peterson.
The victims were related to Gutierrez, according to court documents. Gutierrez made both boys perform sexual acts upon him over the course of over a year from 2009 to 2010, said Peterson.
As part of his plea deal, Gutierrez will receive the maximum sentence for the continued sexual abuse charge — 16 years — and an additional four years for the two charges of lewd and lascivious behavior — which could have carried a maximum sentence of 16 years total.
Gutierrez will not be eligible for parole until 2027, said Peterson.
"We're glad that the case came to a resolution and the victims didn't have to testify," said Peterson.
