BARSTOW • The Barstow Community College baseball team took Antelope Valley College deep on Thursday.
The Vikings hit four home runs on their way to a 22-5 win at home. BCC was led by Christopher Manning with two home runs and seven RBIs on the day. Alex Pollard and Kris Soto added the other long balls bringing in four and two RBIs respectively in the game.
BCC hit well in addition to the home runs. Christian Bernal went four for five, Andres Ortiz went three for five and Bradley Lundstrom went three for five. All three had two RBIs in the game. Ortiz nearly hit the cycle only missing out on the home run.
The Vikings didn't just get the job done on offense. They got a strong game out starting pitcher Joshua King. He earned three strikeouts while giving up one run and five hits in his four and a half innings on the mound. Scottez Dobbins, Emanuel Sanchez and Nathan Mansfield each pitched a couple innings to wrap the game up for BCC.
Barstow is now 18-11 on the season and 11-8 in the Foothill Conference. They will travel to Lancaster to rematch Antelope Valley in a double header starting at 12 p.m. on Saturday.
