YERMO • Two men who returned to retrieve more scrap metal from a trailer they are suspected of stripping a week prior were arrested by Sheriff's deputies Thursday.
On Jan. 21 David Gunn, 49, and Edward Taylor, 47, were seen stripping the aluminum siding off a trailer at the 39000 block of Palma Vista Road in Newberry Springs, but the men were able to flee the scene before deputies arrived, according to a sheriff's report.
On Thursday witnesses Gunn and Taylor men return to the same trailer and to strip more siding. Again, the men were able to leave before deputies arrived.
Deputies spotted the flatbed tow truck described by witnesses and stopped the truck — still loaded with scrap metal — at the intersection of Interstate 15 and Ghost Town Road at 5:59 p.m.
Gunn and Taylor were positively identified by witnesses and booked into the Barstow jail on suspicion of grand theft and felony vandalism. Gunn and Taylor were transported to West Valley Detention Center where they remain in lieu of $50,000 bail each.
