BARSTOW • A Barstow man charged with 27 felony counts related to a 2007 home invasion robbery and rape pleaded no contest to lesser charges in a plea deal Tuesday.
Deputy District Attorney Lana Dallas said Randall Zackery pleaded no contest to one count of forcible rape at the Barstow courthouse Tuesday for an expected sentence of 25 years to life. Zackery's original charges included rape, burglary, robbery, and a host of sexual assault charges.
According to police reports, a masked man broke into a home and sexually assaulted a 40-year-old Barstow woman and her two teenage daughters on Sept. 10, 2007.
Zackery — who had two felony strikes — was on parole when he was named as a suspect and arrested when police found stolen property at his home during an October 2007 search. In 2008, Zackery briefly escaped from the Barstow jail after scaling two high fences and was captured at Barstow High School a short time later.
Zackery's sentencing is scheduled for April 18.
