AMBOY • Two people died in a fiery crash when an pickup truck left the road and rolled over in rural Amboy early Friday morning.


According to county coroner's reports, a 911 call was received by the California Highway Patrol at 12:15 a.m. Friday from a woman who said her husband was driving drunk and swerving all over the road.


At 1 a.m. another 911 call was received reporting an overturned truck on fire on Amboy Road. The San Bernardino County Fire Department and CHP officers arrived at the scene, and two bodies were found inside the 2005 Toyota Tacoma when the flames were extinguished.


Evidence at the scene suggested that the truck was traveling north on Amboy Road just south of National Trials Highway at high speeds, failed to negotiate a turn and flipped several times before coming to rest on its passenger side. The names of the deceased are being held pending notification of relatives.


The CHP is investigating the accident.
