Tell us about yourself and your history with Barstow.

Julie Hackbarth-McIntyre
Incumbent

I was elected to the City Council in 2006, served 5 years on the Fire District Board 2 years as chairperson.

Tony and Barbara Hackbarth, raised me in Barstow. I'm a manger for my families business which is Del Taco, started by my family right here in Barstow. I support the Chamber of Commerce and served on the board.

I have three children and two grandchildren. I enjoy playing piano for my church and am dedicated to giving back to the community. I was a founder/member of the Boy's and Girl's Club, Soroptimist Club, PEO and College Foundation.

Carmen Hernandez
Planning Commissioner

I have been a resident of Barstow since 1965, married 46 years, mother of 3 children, 8 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. I have been your Planning Commissioner since 2005, always do my homework, and come prepared to meetings. I always listen to both sides of the issue and treat everyone fairly. I have an AA from Barstow College, BA from CSUSB and 2 Master degrees. I believe in giving back and have been involved in the Barstow community by belonging to Barstow Kiwanis Crossroads, Barstow Senior Center and heading your Census 2010 Complete Count Committee on a volunteer basis.

I was born and raised in Barstow; I'm married and have two wonderful children.

Barstow's a great family community and I want to keep it that way. As a Council member I work to provide a better opportunity for my family, their friends, their school mates, and the people of Barstow.

As a certified small business owner, in Barstow, I understand the obligations and the rewards of prudent financing, planning, goal-setting, and decision-making.
