BARSTOW The Granite Hills tennis team singled Barstow out on Monday.

The Cougars beat the Aztecs 13-5 in a match that featured a Granite Hills sweep in the singles matches. Granite Hills' Alexis Mariano, Arianna Morse and Amrita Sandhu combined for a 9-0 day against Barstow. The trio outscored Barstow 54-4.

Mariano has led the Cougars all season. She is 43-7 on the season and 24-0 in Desert Sky League play.

"She's just solid," Granite Hills coach Pat Jenkins said. "She hasn't lost a league match all season, and she's only a junior this year. Morse is a sophomore and Sandhu is a freshman. Sandhu surprises a lot of people."

Barstow's doubles teams controlled their portion of the match and took five of nine games. The Aztecs' Tiffany Dominguez and Megan Peacock led Barstow, and won all three of their games. Barstow's No. 2 and No. 3 doubles each took one game from the Cougars.
Granite Hills is now 7-6 overall and 5-3 in the DSL. Barstow slipped to 0-8 in the DSL with the loss.
Barstow coach Leah Johnston said her team hasn't played to its potential.

"They've just had trouble with consistency," Johnston said. "The girls have been like that all season. Megan and TIffany have been solid, but everyone else is up and down. I'm happy as long as they're improving, but I'd like to see them have consistent progress. They have the ability to win more games."
