YERMO Silver Valley junior Jose Lopez is still recovering from a hard hit he took during Friday's game against Mojave on Friday.

Lopez, a lineman and kicker, was taken to Loma Linda University Medical Center by ambulance after he was hit from behind during a play, according to Trojan coach Freezy Smalls. Smalls said the injury appears to be a pinched nerve, but that more tests will be done, and Lopez's football season is over. However, Lopez was released from the hospital and has returned to school.

Silver Valley running back John Ramirez scored with the Trojans' only touchdown of the 48-6 game with a minute remaining, and Lopez kicked off to Mojave. The Mustangs returned the ball and as Lopez closed in for a tackle he sustained the hit. He was able to walk to the sideline, but collapsed when he got off the field.
