SVHS loses close match to Knights

LANCASTER • The Silver Valley volleyball team couldn't repeat against Desert Christian on Tuesday.

The Trojans lost a close match 3-2 to the Knights. Silver Valley had beaten Desert Christian 2-0 during the California City Tournament on September 18, but the Knight were the better team on Tuesday.

Silver Valley kept the game tight despite losing the first two games 26-24 and 25-21. The Trojans came back and dominated the third game 25-8 and held on to even the score with a 25-19 victory in the fourth game. However, they couldn't keep the momentum going and lost the final game 15-11 after coming back from a 9-1 start.

"They did really well," Silver Valley coach Kathy Langston said. "We were talking and communicating. The passes were there. It just didn't come out our way. We lost the first two game, but got games three and four. We started having problems with our passing in the last game. I'd rather have the girls fighting to the end and lose a tough close match than get blown out."

Silver Valley's Brenna Foster led the team with 17 kills. She also had 15 digs and four aces. Lina Oliva led the team with five aces. Jessica Negin led with 18 digs and added 11 kills. Kaci Allen led the team with 33 assists, and she had four kills. Deanna Armstrong had 13 digs and nine kills and Keirnan Kennedy had five kills.
