BARSTOW • Officers from California Highway Patrol and Barstow Police Department will be checking for drunk drivers at a sobriety checkpoint that starts Friday night.
The checkpoint, where drivers may be asked to show their driver's license or take breathalyzer tests, will be held Friday from 8 p.m. until 2 a.m. Saturday at an undisclosed location somewhere within the city limits.
Not all drivers will be stopped or asked to take tests, said CHP Spokesman Officer Taj Johnson. Officers will first be asking people whether they have been drinking and checking their eyes and breath, Johnson said.
One DUI arrest was made during last year's checkpoint, according to Sgt. Mike Hunter of the Barstow Police Department.
Up to 14 officers from CHP and the police department will be supervising the checkpoint.
