AFTON CANYON ROAD • A 26-year-old Visalia man died after being hit by a car while walking across Interstate 15.
A blue car with Colorado license plates dropped Patrick Edward Moran Jr. off at the Afton Canyon Road exit of Interstate 15 around 3:50 a.m. Saturday morning, according to a California Highway Patrol report. Moran, who was wearing black clothing in an unlit area, proceeded to walk across traffic lanes after being dropped off.
A 28-year-old Henderson, Nev. woman struck Moran in the middle of the northbound Interstate 15 around 4:10 a.m. according to the report. The car then collided with a large road sign on the shoulder of the freeway. Moran died from blunt force trauma he sustained from the collision and was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman was not injured in the accident.
Moran had been reported hitchhiking in the area near the southbound Interstate 15, according to a San Bernardino County Coroner's report.
