Dentist Vernon Brockman gets a better look at two-year-old Caitlin Silva's teeth at the Kids Care Fair at the Cora Harper Fitness Center on Saturday. Parents and their kids began lining up at the door at 8 a.m. though the fair didn't start until 9 a.m., said John Rader, spokesman for Barstow Community Hospital, one of the main sponsors of the event. As of about 10:30 a.m., Rader estimated that 200 people were making the rounds, getting their child's height, weight, oxygen capacity and teeth checked. Then many went into another room where students from the nursing program at Victor Valley College and hospital staff vaccinated them. Caitlin's mother, Heidi Silva, said she's an employee for the hospital and visited the Kids Care Fair to get her daughter immunized for measles, mumps and rubella, which is hard to get when she visits her family doctor.
