BARSTOW Deputies arrested a 26-year-old Barstow man already wanted for evading police following a foot pursuit Saturday.

Kelley Michael Barnes is charged with evading a peace officer, transporting a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance while armed, illegal possession of a firearm, bringing drugs or alcohol into prison, possession of a controlled substance, carrying a loaded firearm and a parole violation.

He is accused of leading a deputy on a car and foot pursuit near Community Boulevard Wednesday night. Barnes escaped from deputies, but a 9 mm semi-automatic handgun, ammunition and a suspected controlled substance were found near his vehicle after a chase, according to a sheriff's report.

Deputies received information that Barnes was hiding at a trailer park on the 2100 block of Soapmine Road Saturday, according to a sheriff's report. Deputies, with assistance from the Barstow Police Department, searched the trailer park and found Barnes. Barnes fled on foot, but was taken into custody after Barstow Police officer Joe Silva found him in a grove of trees.

Barnes is being held at the West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga with no bail.
