HELENDALE The Victor Valley golf team finished second in the final Desert Sky League match of the season to clinch the league championship.

Jake Lynch finished second with a 76 at Silver Lakes Country Club to lead the Jackrabbits. Barstow's Anthony Gutierrez shot a 75 to take medalist honors and help the Aztecs win the match.


Lynch also won the league's player of the year with a stroke average of 75.6, more than three shots better than Barstow's John Pace (79.1), who was second. They will be joined by Victor Valley's Jack Sudathip and Nate Burnaman, and Granite Hills' Hunter Lent as the league's individual CIF qualifiers. The Jackrabbits' Dane Trudeau and the Cougars' Alex Hill and Cory Mariano round out the all-league team.

The Desert Sky League will take on the Mojave River League in the High Desert Cup on Thursday.
