BARSTOW A 35-year-old woman and two juveniles were arrested on suspicion of beating her daughter's boyfriend and tying him to a chair in his home.

Frances Sciortino was arrested for allegedly kidnapping and assaulting 22-year-old Esteban Peralta, her minor daughter's boyfriend, and for stealing over $400 of property from Peralta's home on Wednesday, according to Barstow Police Sgt. Andy Espinoza Sr.

Two juveniles are also in custody and police are looking for one more potential juvenile suspect, Espinoza said. Names of the juveniles involved were not released.

According to Espinoza, the incident began as a dispute between Peralta and Sciortino's daughter. The dispute between the two escalated to where the girlfriend's family got involved, Espinoza said.

The girlfriend's mother and several juveniles showed up at Peralta's home on the 500 block of White Street, where they assaulted the boyfriend, tied him to a chair, and then continued to beat him, according to Espinoza. They stole property valuing over several hundred dollars before leaving the victim bound and alone in his home, he said.

Police have not yet determined what started the dispute or why it escalated.

Upon freeing himself from the chair, Peralta went to a neighbor's house where he called the police around 5 p.m. The victim went afterwards to Barstow Community Hospital to be treated for injuries, Espinoza said.

The incident is still under investigation.

Sciortino is being held on $250,000 bail.
