BARSTOW 4, GRANITE HILLS 2: At Apple Valley, Jaccob Muir's three-run homer with two outs in the top of the seventh helped propel the Aztecs to a victory Friday.

The Aztecs entered the inning down 2-1 and soon found themselves in a situation with two outs and no one on. Then Daniel Rogriguez reached base on an error, Phil Peralta earned a walk and Muir, the Aztecs leadoff batter, finished the rally.

"We went crazy," Barstow coach Bruce Mitchell said. "We were all jacked. It was a great win. Unbelievable."

After both teams scored a run in the first inning, the game turned into a pitcher's duel. Barstow starter Aaron Sanchez pitched six innings with seven strikeouts, four walks and one hit batter and Granite Hills pitcher C.J. King went seven innings with eight strikeouts and one walk. Thomas McCarty came in the seventh and earned the save for Barstow.

"Thomas came in and did his job," Mitchell said. "He's looking beter and better each time he does it."

The Aztecs are now tied with Victor Valley atop the Desert Sky League with a 3-1 record. They played Burroughs on the road Wednesday before returning home on Friday.
